Your Support Makes a Difference

With your help, we can ensure that every child feels valued, heard, and ready to embrace their world with confidence.

Playschool's mission is the education of young children through play. But the glorious part of our school is that it educates the parents through play as well.  Parents, children, teachers and community members all are exposed to the triumphs and tragedies (large and small, real and imagined) through children's eyes. A sense of wonder, connection, and joy is present every day at Playschool. It keeps the school alive and learning. We teach the children, but the children teach us as a community what it means to be young at heart.

As we celebrate our 90th Anniversary, we are always learning, always curious, always evolving because we are always PLAYFUL. We invite you to enter into this next year with us ready to play, learn and grow. We want your partnership, funding, ideas and energy to keep us growing smarter, stronger and supported as we enter the next decade.

Educating Children

Educating young children is the center of Playschool.

🔸 There are 82 children enrolled. Over half stay for the afternoon program atleast twice a week.

🔸 Every child is met with love and acceptance for who they are at that moment.

🔸 Our teachers bring years of experience, but are also supported with ongoing Professional Development. Several teachers have recently completed or are enrolled in graduate level education. Staff will attend the NAEYC conference together this year to deepen their connections to early childhood experts and each other.

🔸 Weekly music, woodshop and cooking days set a rhythm for classes during the week, while special dance, music, puppetry and animal programs bring the school together monthly.

🔸 Children are outside every day.

Supporting Families

🔸 We also meet our families' needs with tuition assistance - an average of 26% of families receive assistance each year.

🔸 In return, families and alumni volunteer 10,000 hours or more each year to Playschool as classroom helpers and members of the Sale, Auction, Bazaar, League and Board committees.

🔸 Through participation in League events, Parent and Me playgroup, Mankind meetings, Work Party, Cooking Nights, Meal Trains and more, parents find friendship and support in their parenting journeys. They contribute their skills and resources, and lean on others when needed!

Help Us Stay Young At Heart

Playschool is alway evolving behind the scenes so that we can provide the timeless childhood experiences we value.

🔺 New software for registration and communication.

🔺 Increasing ways for families to be involved in the cooperative - even while working full-time.

🔺 Proactively caring for our building and grounds. We've replaced the furnace, rebuilt climbers, and pruned trees - our preventative "medicine" that keeps our facilities, and our students, safe and healthy.

🔺 Professional development for teachers that is directly relevant to play-based learning.

We need your support to keep playing.

The Stay Young At Heart campaign supports everything we do at school, including tuition assistance, teacher excellence, arts programming, and playing together every day. It will also help us with our critical infrastructure projects, so that we have the healthiest start to a new decade of learning!
